Mended Heart Hat and Socks Set by Cheryl Toy

The Mended Heart Hat and Socks Set features embroidered hearts that showcase the resilience and passion of the heart. The hat is worked in the round from the bottom up, and the socks are worked from the cuff down with a short-row heel.

Magazine Kit includes Knitscene Summer 2019 (pattern inside) and selected yarn in Sport Weight. Each Kit will make the hat & socks. Each kit comes with 1 MINI skein of Red Fingering Weight yarn in matching brand for embroidery of hearts, too. For yarn winding services, click here.

DESIGNER RECOMMENDED YARN: Itty Bitty by Sugar Bush Yarns (65% Merino Wool /25% Nylon/10% Cashmere: 50g/153 yds): 1 (1, 2) Skeins MC, 1 Skein Color B. Shown in Slate, Buttercream & red.

ALTERNATE YARN: O-Wash Sport by O-Wool (100% machine-washable Certified Organic Merino Wool; 100g/300 yds): 1 (1, 2) Skeins MC, 1 Skein Color B. Use colors Cattail, Blue Heron and Cardinal Red to match sample.

ALTERNATE YARN: Arroyo by Malabrigo (100% Superwash Merino Wool; 100g/335yds): 1 Skein MC, 1 skein Color B. Use Arroyo if you would like a bit of color variegation from the kettle-dyed, Uruguayan, superwash yarn. The colors are spectacular and will astound even the tried and true knitter.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Hat: 16.5 (19, 21.25)" circumference at brim unstretched. Socks: 7 (8, 9, 10)" foot circumference and 9½" long from back of heel to tip of toe; foot length is adjustable. Socks shown measure 8".
YARDAGE: 306-459 yds

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate-sock shaping

NEEDLES: Size US 3 / 3.25mm 16" circular needle and Double Points, or size needed to obtain gauge
OTHER TOOLS: Stitch Markers, Tapestry Needle, 10 yards fingering weight red yarn for embroidery
GAUGE: 27 sts x 37 rows = 4" in Stockinette Stitch
