Fortune’s Shawlette was inspired by the ubiquitous corner to corner stitch, aka the diagonal box stitch. Tamara Kelly added her own twist to the idea, creating a lacier, more open, summer ready stitch pattern.

The result is gorgeous, and just right for year round - bunch it up for warmth, stretch it out for a light as air layer on the shoulders. If you want a bigger shawl, you could try a thicker yarn, or even use the same yarn and add more rows - it’s super easy, and once you get started, it’ll fly off the hook!

 Sock/Light Fingering Weight

DESIGNER RECOMMENDED YARN: Hawthorne Kettle Dye by Knit Picks (80% Wool / 20% Nylon; 100g/357yds): 1 Skein. Shown in color Goddess.

ALTERNATE YARN: Sock by Malabrigo (100% Superwash Merino Wool; 100g/440yds): 1 Skein.  Sock is a wonderful easy care merino yarn in beautiful colorways.  Try the more varied colors to create extra visual interest and movement such as Archangel, Indiecita Stonechat, and Rayon Vert.  Sock will be slightly lighter and less dense than the original yarn but is multi plied and very durable.

GAUGE: 7 rows = 4″ but gauge is unimportant
