The Betangled Shawlette is a fully reversible, crescent-shaped shawlette featuring two cables curving around a garter-stitch field.  This versatile piece can be draped loosely around the shoulders or fastened in place by pulling one of the leafy ends through any cable crossing. 

It is knitted sideways, from one tip to the other. A short-row section in the center creates triangular wedges in the garter field, shaping the shawlette into a crescent.  Use Silky Merino, a single ply kettled dyed yarn by Malabrigo to match the shawlette shown.  Yarns with more plies will create a more defined garter stitch and cable stitch.

DESIGNER RECOMMENDED YARN: Silky Merino by Malabrigo (51% Silk / 49% Merino Wool; 50g/150yds): 4 Skeins.  Shown in color Green Gray

ALTERNATE YARN: Arroyo by Malabrigo (100% Superwash Merino Wool; 100g/330 yds): 2 Skeins.  Arroyo is kettle-dyed in small batches and has a beautiful variegation of color which can be subtle or quite vibrant depending upon the color.  Please purchase enough yarn to complete your project.  We will hand select skeins to match as closely as possible.  Please note that this is not a tweed yarn.

ALTERNATE YARN: Dos Tierras by Malabrigo (50% Merino Wool / 50% Baby Alpaca; 100g/210 yds): 3 skeins. Beautifully soft, very warm & available in bold or neutral colors.  Enjoy the bounce from soft merino wool as well as the warmth and silkiness of baby alpaca in a decadent neck wrap. 

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: 68" wide x 9.5" tall at centerline
YARDAGE: approximately 575 yds
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate - cables, short rows

NEEDLES: Size US 5 / 3.75mm straight or circular needle, or adjust to the correct size needed to obtain gauge
OTHER TOOLS: 2 stitch markers, Cable needle, Tapestry needle
GAUGE: 17 sts x 38 rows = 4" in in garter stitch, blocked. 18 sts x 40 rows = 4” in garter stitch, unblocked.  Gauge is not crucial for this project but will effect yardage and size of the finished piece.
