This intermediate level design is a linen crescent shawl worked from the top down. It features an expanding lace insert in the center. The instructions are charted as well as fully written, and the pattern is suitable for any yarn weight up to worsted. Be sure to adjust your yarn requirements when making substitutions.

"It’s August and I feel like buying school supplies. I’m not sure why this is such a gratifying task. There’s something about freshly sharpened No. 2 pencils, and the linen paper we used for presentations before the digital age. Perhaps it is because I grew up in a family of teachers, and gearing up for the beginning of school was a comprehensive endeavor. It kind of feels like a ‘fresh start’ after finishing the previous term and having the summer to re-group. DESIGNER RECOMMENDED YARN: Natura Linen by DMC (58% Linen / 26% Rayon / 16% Cotton; 50g/164yds): 4 Skeins.  Shown in Color #134.

ALTERNATE YARN: Hempathy by Elsebeth Lavold (41% Cotton / 34% Hemp / 25% Modal; 50g/153 yds: 4 Skeins.  Hempathy is a very soft, strong yarn with wonderful drape and weight.  Hemp, while uncommon in the USA, is strong and soft with excellent colorfast qualities.
